Sculpture North is our landmark exhibition celebrating the enduring legacy and vibrant future of sculpture in the North of England.

Running from 1st - 30th June 2025, the exhibition brings together a dynamic group of established and emerging sculptors from across the UK whose work reflects the powerful artistic tradition of the region. Our beautiful gallery space is the perfect setting for such a celebration, being uniquely artist led and dedicated to showing sculpture to its optimum.

Sculpture has long been rooted in the cultural fabric of the North. From the monumental works of Henry Moore, born in Castleford, to the elemental forms of Barbara Hepworth, raised in Wakefield, and the conceptual legacy of Antony Gormley, whose iconic Angel of the North stands sentinel over Gateshead - this region has produced some of the most influential sculptors of the modern era.

Sculpture North builds on this proud history, uniting contemporary artists who continue to shape and redefine the medium.

Set within the striking architectural backdrop of The Balcony at The Corn Exchange, Leeds, this exhibition not only honours the North's sculptural past but seeks to bridge the artistic gap between North and South. As co-curators Steve Williams and Mark Taliana explain:

“SCULPTURE NORTH is about more than geography - it's about spotlighting the talent, energy, and innovation of artists working outside the capital. We’re thrilled to introduce a wider audience to this extraordinary tradition and its contemporary torchbearers.”
